The majority of investors active in Greece express expectations for further maturity of the Greek startup ecosystem and an improvement in the investment environment. Although they continue to be concerned about structural weaknesses, they remain optimistic about 2026, with some expecting an increase not only in volume but also in the quality of startups. In 2025, a total of 1.107 patent applications were filed, marking a new national record, according to ΟΒΙ annual reports. The increase in national invention filings in 2025 reflects the country’s technological momentum and demonstrates a high degree of alignment with international technological trends.

Investing for Purpose, an Athens-based fund, which focuses on sustainability and social impact, announced its official launch with a first close of EUR 25.4 million, supported by the EIF under the EquiFund II programme.

In 2025, Greece’s startup ecosystem continued its strong momentum, with more than 90 Greek-founded startups raising capital from over 143 investors worldwide. According to Found.ation’s FWD Greece: Innovation Pulse 2025–2026 report, investor interest was led by the United States, followed by Greece and other European countries.
