The Initiative & launch Event
SEV and Endeavor joined forces to create a community of innovative Greeks that will benefit Greece’s economic prospects, create growth and jobs, and increase the resilience of the Greek economy.
The launch of the Innovative Greeks’ community with the two-day digital conference on March 2-3 was a great success. More than 14,000 unique visitors registered and attended the conference, while a further 15,000 have since viewed the proceedings. We thank you all and look forward to seeing you in our activities.
The event united successful entrepreneurs, global executives, experienced venture capitalists, members of the government, and industrial representatives from all over the world. They came together to share their experiences, views, and insights on how to strengthen the Greek innovation ecosystem, play to its strengths, and attract investments. Most of them agree on the following:
Greece has become an attractive destination for foreign investment.
The Greek ecosystem has matured and provides attractive employment opportunities for international and local talent. Greece has the capacity to become a regional hub given its geographic proximity to major markets, its business-friendly government, the country’s human capital and the snowball effect of the latest big investments. Entrepreneurs are starting to create businesses that are addressing big markets, look into international expansion early on and take fundraising seriously.
Greek diaspora is an invaluable pool of talent, role models and ideas which can crucially aid Greece’s efforts to scale up its innovation ecosystem for growth, jobs and prosperity. The expert panels discussed different aspects of Greece’s innovation ecosystem, its strengths and weaknesses, and the key characteristics on which to base its future prospects. Each panel examined different strands of the innovation ecosystem, from serial entrepreneurs, top-level managers in international companies, investors, and policy makers. Of note, the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in a discussion along with SEV’s Chairman Mr. Dimitris Papalexopoulos and Endeavor Greece’s Chairwoman, Mrs. Costantza Sbokou-Constantakopoulou.
The Innovative Greeks’ conference marked the beginning of our common endeavor and we will continue striving to lead the effort to create new, Greek, success stories of innovation and high-tech entrepreneurship. The innovative Greeks Diaspora are an invaluable pool of talent, ideas and hard work can become a crucial ally in Greece’s efforts to scale up its innovation ecosystem for growth, jobs and prosperity. Our progress, future initiatives, and all pertinent information can be followed from this website which will soon be updated. Stay tuned and spread the word. We are breaking new ground for our common future.
